About Dr. Tanvir Ahmed

Dr. Tanvir Ahmed is a Consultant Surgeon specialising in General, Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgery, and Assistant Professor of Colorectal Surgery at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka. He focuses on patient-centred, minimally invasive care that restores function and quality of life for people with anorectal, colorectal and abdominal surgical conditions.

He completed his MBBS at Mymensingh Medical College in 2009 and went on to rigorous post-graduate training, earning two fellowships from the Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS): FCPS in General Surgery (2020) and the sub-specialty FCPS in Colorectal Surgery (2026). He is a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Health) cadre.

His clinical journey spans more than 15 years — an internship at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, a five-year tenure as RMO & Clinical Staff in Surgery at Square Hospitals Ltd., Dhaka, Assistant Registrar at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, and Registrar in General Surgery at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. He now serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the same institution.

Alongside clinical work he is an active teacher and researcher, with peer-reviewed publications on reconstructive anorectal surgery (Diamond Flap Anoplasty) and a randomised trial comparing Desarda and Lichtenstein repair for primary inguinal hernia.
